STATEMENT
"My drawings are a window into a dream like world that is populated by strange creatures and characters. It is a vision of a natural world, unspoilt by modern technology. Full of memory and magic.
The illustrations tell stories. I often work directly from a text or in response to a folk tale. However, I also create my own narratives. Celtic mythology, Medieval history and my personal experience of Cornwall’s natural landscape form an amalgamation of influences that feed into my artwork.
The majority of my work is created using pen and ink on paper. It is highly detailed making it a very labour intensive method. The focus and patience needed to complete each piece is one of my favourite aspects of the creative process. Time stops and I’m able to really lose myself in each drawing, and for a while, inhabit the world I am creating."
